When I wake up I hear thunder in the distance. Immediately I get out of my sleeping bag, wash and hurry to pack my tent. Not a second too early; when I go to have breakfast it already begins to rain.
It becomes a long breakfast, at least time-wise. Shortly before 10 am I start while it is still raining moderately.
But already after half an hour the rain stops. After another half hour the sun comes out, and immediately it gets warm. I had expected this a few days earlier.
In Sibenik I find a McDonald's where I can upload the pictures and videos in full resolution which had not been possible at the campground because of very low (and expensive) upload speed.
To say it once more: if you click on a picture it will be downloaded in full resolution so that you can use it for your own purpose.
From Sibenik I come to Trogir where I have to take a small road because bicycles are not permitted on the main road. The quality of the road immediately becomes worse, I only can go slowly. This road is very busy, a lot of traffic, also pedestrians.
Slowly I approach Split. The small road goes several km beside the main road, and then it leads on the main road. Fortunately bicycles are not forbidden from there, but the road remains autobahn-like. An additional lane comes from the right where cars come non-stop and accelerate sharply. I can't get to the right shoulder. To my right and left the cars are racing along. After a long time which seems like an eternity I can cross the right lane and drive at the right shoulder. I'm glad not to have measured my heart rate.
Now I don't want to visit the old town of Split any more and go on away from Split. After few km the road narrows again (one lane for each direction). It is amazing how fast the traffic decreases.
The road is now very close to the water. I take a short break after the stress of Split. The beach is only 5 meters from the road.
Meanwhile it is already 7:30 pm. I take the campground "Galeb" at Omis.
But I can't recommend this site. 15 Euro for one tent and one night is a lot. For the WiFi they charge 3 Euros for 15 minutes, I don't take it. Rather I will look for another McDo tomorrow where I can upload the report.
The restaurant is expensive too. The two pancakes for desert are more than one day old and hard. The restaurant closes at 9 pm. I give no tip.
Nowhere I can sit down and write the report. So I write the most of it sitting with crossed legs in my tent.
But overall the day was good. The coast has wonderful views. Finally mediterranian feeling comes up, and the application of sunscreen was not in vain.
Also I didn't hurry and had many breaks. I now feel like being on vacation.
Tomorrow I plan to take it easy too.
